Old Costessey Hit the Target at Archery Competition

This year’s District archery competition took place at the 2nd Hellesdon Scout HQ on Sunday 17th April 2016.

The District decided to split the shooting and archery competitions, which had previously been run as one event. This gave an opportunity for Groups to select scouts purely on their archery ability and for us to run the competition using the same rules as the County event.

As the results below show, the competition was close.

Team winners

1. 16th Norwich “B” 236 points
2. 1st Horford & St Faiths “A” 234 points
3. 16th Norwich “A” 230 points

The individual competition saw 4 scouts with 68 points in equal 3rd place and a shoot off was held. This was very competitive and produced some of the best archery of the day.

Individual highest score

1. Ethan Cowley (16th Norwich) 74 points
2. Andrei Mihalache (16th Norwich) 70 points
3. Joshua Clark (44th Norwich) 68 points

The District will be entering a team in the County Archery competitions on Saturday 2nd July 2016 when with the top shots from the District event will be competing for the County shield.

The District are fortunate to have a large number of qualified archery instructors who delivered this event very successfully and I am grateful to them for giving up their time to enable the scouts to have a great day.
