Duke of Edinburgh Presentation Day

Sunday 26th November 2017 saw Northern Norwich’s Duke of Edinburgh Bronze team make their Expedition Presentation at the Norfolk Scouts County Presentation Day.   The team were Jack Reed, Ben Graves, Sam Norman, Luan Meraj, Joe Oldfield and Jack Hendry who are Explorer Scouts and Young Leaders in the District.  They were the only participating team who were not supported directly by the County team.  Three other DofE teams also made their presentatations.

Our team had completed their expedition in October walking from Rockland All Saints to Hethersett, stopping overnight at Garverston Scout Field.  The team worked extremely well together and, with one member having an injured ankle, they all supported each other.  The weather on the first day was changeable and the team arrived at the campsite very wet, but in high spirits.  After a soggy night’s sleep they were keen to continue their journey and when they arrived at Hethersett Fire Station both Assessors were impressed by their teamwork, map reading and camp craft skills.

During the Presentation Day a number of other members of the District were recognised:

  • Alex Slaughter (HAndS Explorer) received his Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award
  • Alex Bretton (Network Member) presented his Gold Expedition
  • James Delph (Network Member and Explorer Leader) presented his Gold Expedition with his team.

Congratulations to all of you – we are very proud of all of you.

Northern Norwich District now look forward to a new year of DofE with teams undertaking their Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards in 2018.
