Damboree 2018 – Beavers in Tents

Damboree 2018 – Beavers in Tents

Five colonies from Northern Norwich – 11th Norwich, 1st Drayton, 2nd Hellesdon, 1st Horsford & St Faiths and 2nd Reepham were recently joined by members from 1st Mulbarton from Southern Norwich to enjoy an outdoor camp at the 2nd Reepham Scout HQ.  The event was organised by the various colony leaders as part of a national event “Damboree 2018 – Beavers in Tents”.  For many of the 60 Beavers taking part it was their first night outdoor camping and all had great fun.

During the camp the Beavers took part in activities including backwoods cooking, archery, climbing, the “Toxic Challenge” (a water obstacle game) and enjoyed time on a giant inflatable slide.  They also completed our Damboree Challenge by finding out about how beavers live in the wild and spelling out DAMBOREE 2018 in natural materials.

Thanks go to the leaders from all the colonies for their help with the planning and delivery of the event, the leaders from the 2nd Reepham for their work preparing the campsite for us ahead of the event and to Sue Elmes for the many hours she spent before the event ensuring that all food was purchased and delivered to the headquarters ahead of time.

Not only was a brilliant experience for the Beavers but also a great opportunity for the leaders to share time and ideas.

Some photographs from the event can be found in our gallery.
