The biannual Northern Norwich District “Celebration of Scouting Achievements” awards night took place once again at St Catherine’s Church, Mile Cross on Friday 16th October.
Caz Barr, District Commissioner made the presentation of the Queen’s Scout Award to Ellen Batchelor.
The Queen’s Scout Award is the highest award that can be gained by a member of the Explorer or Network Sections of the Scout Association.

Earlier in the evening Ellen also had been recognised for gaining her Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.
During the last 6 months 57 Bronze, 33 Silver and 21 Gold awards had been gained by members of the Beaver, Cub and Scout sections and most of the recipients along with their families attended the awards evening to be recognised for their achievements.
The members of the Northern Norwich Archery Team who were joint winners of the County Archery Competition in June and the members of the District team who won the County Shooting Competition in September were also recognised for their achievements. The teams were awarded trophies and certificates in recognition of their achievement.
Both the District Commissioner, Caz Barr and the County Commissioner, Nickie Chapman, congratulated the young people on their achievements and the leaders in the District for their hard work to deliver quality programmes for the young people of Northern Norwich.
The County Commissioner then went on to present the Award for Merit to District Commissioner, Caz Barr. The award which is approved by the Chief Scout is given for outstanding service of not less than 12 year and implies keen, conscientious, imaginative and dedicated service over a sustained period.
