Spixworth Cubs win “Come Dine With Us”

Earlier this year a challenge was made to all Cub Packs in the District to prepare and cook a meal and to invite guests to join them for the meal, which would be judged by independent adults.  The prize would be the “Come Dine With Us” plate and the Packs had to complete the challenge between January and June 2017.

1st Spixworth Cubs were among several Packs who took up the challenge. Their Cubs thought it was a great idea!  They raised some funds, completed lots of badge work and had lots of fun!

They decided that their meal would be a Sunday roast at the end of their weekend camp in May. They invite their families and some special guests who had helped the pack during the year.

So, what did they do:

• Prepared invitations – Stop Motion Animation and paper plate designs (Digital Citizen and Artist Badges)
• Food planning and preparation – (Chef Badge / Our Skills Challenge)
• Entertainment – jokes / songs / dancing (Entertainers Badge)
• Table decorations – laminated place mats and homemade flowers in painted glasses (Artist Badge)

The event was very popular and they entertained and fed over 50 people – that meant lots of vegetables for the Cubs to prepare.  

The meal was a lovely way to end their camp  and the Cubs were very proud when they received the painted plate,which was presented to them at the recent “Cubs On Water Sunday” event.
