District Success in County Scout Shooting Competition

The County Scout Shooting Competition, organised and delivered by the 177 Rangers, the County Shooting SASU, was held at the 1st Taverham Scout HQ on Saturday 6th October 2018 when 13 teams from 8 Districts took part.  The scouts, in teams of 4, shot in four disciplines – rifle standing, rifle kneeling, rifle prone and pistols.

The two teams from Northern Norwich District performed well, finishing 1st and 4th in the team competition, while there were some outstanding performances by their individual team members.

  • George Mann (44th Norwich) was 3rd in the rifle kneeling, 2nd in the rifle prone, 2nd in the pistols and finished as runner up in the highest scorer competition.
  • Grace Tuma (44th Norwich) was 1st in the rifle standing, 2nd in the rifle kneeling, 6th in the pistols and finished overall 3rd.
  • Ryan Wesson (1st Taverham) was 1st in the pistols, 5th in the rifle prone and 9th in the rifle standing and finished overall 5th
  • Ryan Dearden (1st Horsford & St Faiths) was 2nd in the rifle standing, 7th in the rifle kneeling and 9th in the pistols and finished overall 8th.

Paul Williams, Assistant County Commissioner (Scouts) made the presentations.
